- Early bird tickets available from $117 for two days
Three of Wellington’s top chefs have teamed up with Wellington Sevens to give fans a taste of all that’s great about their city by showcasing signature dishes at January’s event.
Shaun Clouston (Logan Brown, Grill Meets Beer), Rex Morgan (Boulcott St Bistro, Burger Liquor) and Martin Bosley (Chef and restaurant consultant) will be rolling out the dishes with the help of Westpac Stadium Executive Chef, Steve Morris, at the new Food+Fizz Alley which will be open throughout the 28, 29 January tournament.
General Manager Wellington Sevens Steve Dunbar said with tickets now on sale, the food available in the Food+Fizz Alley will give fans an experience they couldn’t get anywhere but Wellington.
“We’re bringing together the best of what Wellington has to offer; great food, top sport action and outstanding entertainment.
“The restaurants and reputations of these chefs are synonymous with Wellington, unashamedly the foodie capital of New Zealand. We want to bring new food options to the Sevens for those who want to try something special.”
Chef Shaun Clouston said he and the other chefs were keen to add their touch to the iconic Wellington event.
“The Sevens is a fun couple of days, a chance to sit in the sun, enjoy the rugby with friends and family, dress up and have a good time. Rex, Martin and I are excited to be part of it and serve our food to fans.
“We are still finalising exactly what we will serve but we can tell you it will be tasty, fun and priced at around $10, it’ll be great value for money.”
Tickets for the two-day event are now on sale with four distinct zones; including a prime viewing Premium zone on halfway, a Mix Zone where fans would enjoy live music in the stands, the Family Zone with interactive fun for all ages and the Silver Zone with great viewing of the action and off the pitch.
A limited early bird adult ticket price of $117 for two days is for seats in the Silver, Family or Mix Zones. Kids eat and play for free, with tickets $7 per day. For Premium seats, the early bird price is $167 for two days. One day tickets are also available for $77 per day. The early bird price ends on Monday 7 November.
Dunbar said the earlier you buy tickets the more you’ll save.
“Wellington Sevens is one of the most iconic events in the capital’s calendar and you’re going to want to be at Westpac Stadium in the last weekend in January.
“We will be announcing our entertainment line-up in the next couple of weeks – watch this space.”
